NFL Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em for Week 3: WRs

Published on

Last week we introduced a new series called “Start ’em/Sit ’em. The content is geared toward those who participate in playing fantasy football. We focused on the quarterbacks in Week 2. Today it’s all about the wide receivers.

Must Start Wide Receivers For Week 3 Fantasy Football

A.J. Brown-Start

A.J. Brown is off to an excellent start with the Philadelphia Eagles. He posted 28.50 fantasy points in Week 1 but fell to only 9.40 in Week 2. The drop in production was because of quarterback Jalen Hurts’s willingness to spread the ball to different receivers against Minnesota. On Sunday, the Eagles face division rival, the Washington Commanders. Washington is giving up 404.4 total yards of offense this season. Expect a bounce-back performance from the former Tennessee Titan this Sunday.

Cooper Kupp-Start

The Arizona Cardinals are coming from an emotional Week 2 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The team heads home for a division game against the Los Angeles Rams. The contest between these two teams may come down to the wire, but there’s a significant chance that Cooper Kupp will put up big numbers down in the desert. Currently, the Cardinals’ secondary is ranked 28th against the pass. Without hesitation, Kupp needs to start.

Justin Jefferson-Start

Justin Jefferson had a rough outing in his Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. His fantasy points dropped from 42.90 in Week 1 to 7.80. However, he was matched up against Darius Slay, one of the league’s best corner’s right now. The Week 3 battle against Detroit should yield better results. The Lions are off to an impressive start at 1-1, but their defense is a cause for concern. Jefferson should be one of the top fantasy scorers once this game is over.

Sit These Wide Receivers In Week 3

Adam Thielen-Sit

The impact of Adama Thielen has gotten smaller since the arrival of Justin Jefferson. In previous years, He was a highly coveted fantasy wideout that an owner would start in a favorable matchup. His yards per game continue to decrease, and he has been below 62 yards per game in four straight seasons. If Minnesota gets into a shootout without Detroit, Jefferson will receive most of those targets from Kirk Cousins.

Darnell Mooney-Sit

Before the season started, there was a lot of buzz surrounding a few players that are members of the Chicago Bears, such as Justin Fields, Cole Kmet, and Darnell Mooney. So far, those players have not had stellar productivity from a fantasy aspect. Until the Bears’ offense figure out their identity, it’s best that owners bench wideouts such as Mooney. So far, he only has five targets for two catches and four yards on the season. Please keep Mooney on the bench until there’s an increase in production.

Brandon Aiyuk-Sit

49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was listed among our seven best fantasy players that could have huge payoffs this season. That was mainly due to Trey Lance being the starting quarterback. Lance went down without an ankle injury in Week 2 and will most likely miss the entire year. Jimmy Garoppolo is now the starting quarterback for San Francisco once again. History has shown that Aiyuk does not work particularly well with Garoppolo. So far, he has recorded 103 yards in two games this season. Do not allow Aiyuk to start until the chemistry between him and Garoppolo improve.
