Saints sign defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon

Published on

The New Orleans Saints typically wait for at least the first two weeks of the NFL Free Agency period to slow down and start signing new players. Well, that trend continues; on Monday morning, it was reported the Saints had signed former Chiefs defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon to a two-year deal. NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero first reported the transaction.

In regards to the details of the contract, Nick Underhill of New Orleans.Football reports that the deal is worth $4.5 million and includes a $500,000 signing bonus. The value can escalate up to $5.25 million if a sack escalator is achieved.

Kpassagnon was a second-round selection for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. Kpassagnon mainly performed as a rotational player on the Chiefs’ defensive line. However, in 2019 he started eight games for the Chiefs to pursue a Super Bowl title.

The following season, Kpassagnon appeared in all of Kansas City’s 16 games and recorded one sack a pair of tackles for loss. The former second-round selection will have an opportunity to enhance his skill set by working with one of the best defensive line coaches in the league in Ryan Nielson.
