The Chicago Bears have decided to sign Andy Dalton as their potential starter going into next season. That leaves former second-overall pick Mitchell Trubisky on the outside looking in. With that decision, the Bears made it clear that they were no longer all in on the athletic signal-caller out of North Carolina.
As of Thursday, Trubsiky will be a part of a new football team. The Buffalo Bills signed Trubisky to a one-year deal; the terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Despite leading the Bears to the postseason in two out of his four seasons with the team, Trubisky’s playing style never seems to fit. General Manager Ryan Pace drew heavy criticism from the Bears fanbase after moving up in the draft to select Trubisky in 2017. In the same draft class with Trubisky were Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes.
Both quarterbacks have developed into two of the upper echelon quarterbacks in the National Football League. Trubisky has gone 29-21 as a starter with the Bears, throwing for 10,609 yards with 64 touchdowns and 37 interceptions while completing 64% of his passes. He has also rushed for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns.
