Daniel Synder issues statements on building a new stadium by 2027

It has been reported for quite some time that Washington Football Team owner Daniel Synder had aspirations of building a new stadium in or around the Nation’s Capitol. On Thursday, Synder made those plans known after speaking with TMZ.

“We’re touring stadiums,” he said outside of SoFi Stadium, the new California home of the Chargers and Rams. “We’re coming (to the) West Coast and touring, about 12 of us, looking to build a new venue back home, in D.C. or Maryland. So we’re everywhere … looking at the future … We’re making big plans. Coming soon to Washington.”

Synder and team president Jason Wright are currently on a stadium tour that will span from around the country and into touring venues overseas. The purpose of the trip is to grab the newer stadiums’ concepts and the amenities that make them unique.

The Washington Football Team’s current lease does not expire until 2027. Synder is adamant that the new stadium will be complete and ready for operation by 2027. “We’re taking inspiration from everywhere,” Wright added. “If we’re gonna do something that our fans really deserve, which is cutting-edge and innovative, we gotta take in all these ideas … We can be creative.” FedEx has been home to the Washington Football Team since 1997. Before FedEx Field’s opening, Washington played their home games in RFK Stadium.
