After two months and a half of speculation, the NFL’s all-time leading passer Drew Brees announced his retirement from playing football. The future Hall of Famer was announced on his Instagram account on Sunday.
Brees owns just about every league passing record that’s out there right now. His signing back in 2006 will go down as one of the greatest free-agent transactions in NFL history. Brees’ contributions to the Saints organization changed the entire outlook of a once losing franchise. The crowning moment came in 2009 when the Saints won their first-ever Super Bowl championship in franchise history.
While Brees was under center, the Saints won seven division titles, one Super Bowl title, and three NFC championship game appearances. The former Purdue Boilermaker finishes his career with 80,358 passing yards and 571 touchdown passes.
