It was originally reported that 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would miss the remainder of the season because of a broken foot injury that occurred against the Miami Dolphins. On Tuesday, the story has changed. It is now being reported that Garoppolo will not need foot surgery. However, it all depends on how well he recovers during rehab. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Jimmy G could return for the playoffs. Backup QB Brock Purdy stepped in for Garoppolo and led the Niners to a 33-17 victory over Miami. He threw for 227 yards and one touchdown pass.
Garoppolo was on the verge of having another stellar season. He threw for 2,437 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
